Chinese herbalists recommend kudzu for what they call wei, or superficial syndrome, referring to a mild disease that appears just below the body's surface and is accompanied by a fever. Chinese have been traditionally using kudzu for thirst, headaches (migraine and other types of headaches), neck pain from hypertension, angina, allergies, diarrhea, and speeding the progression of measles in children. In general, kudzu may be used as a dietry supplement to soothe irritated mucous membranes. Animal research and empirical experiences indicate that kudzu, in combination with other herbs or nutrients, may reduce alcohol craving. Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) is one of seven Chinese herbs in a Traditional Chinese formula known as 'drunkenness dispeller. Kudzu is commonly used as part of a proactive program to overcome detrimental health habits. [Kudzu Info]
