Aging
Aging is a biological process that affects all people equally around the world.
Aging is not an illness but the passing years do make the body vulnerable to
certain diseases.
Aging is also associated with exposure of body cells with different
environmental and chemical stressors. Major problems that are associated with
aging include muscle weakness, bones and joints pain and wrinkles. To remain
young and fit is the primary wish of an individual.
During aging significant number of problems arises due to malabsorption.
Malabsorption refers to the inability or poor ability of body to absorb
nutrients and minerals from the food. Aged people have slow digestion and
absorption of nutrients, so they should use additive food supplement to support
their digestive system, so that they can live a healthy and fit life. A great
number of quality products are available to maintain health during aging.
Several nutritional supplements in addition to balanced diet may reverse the
negative effects of aging by keeping your heart healthy, your muscle strong and
your skin glowing and clear from wrinkles.
Signs of Aging
Age spots
Age spots are flat brown spots that can appear anywhere on the body in advance
age and mostly appear on face, neck and hands. [1] Age spots are actually the
accumulation of waste materials that produce during life processes inside all
body cells. [1] These spots are found in all body cells but appear only on skin
and reflect deficiency of vitamin E, chromium, selenium etc. in the body. [1]
Memory Loss
Memory loss is the major problem of aging and it is due to deficiency of vitamin
B12. [1] Stresses of life are also associated with forgetfulness because they
affect brain functions. [2]
Joint Pain
Joint pain and weakening of bones (osteoporosis) are problems of aging occur due
to deficiency of vitamin D and other minerals in body of an individual. [1]
Wrinkles
Skin is the largest organ of the body. It provides a barrier against entrance of
harmful foreign substances in the body. [1]It also helps in removing toxins from
body through sweat. [1] Wrinkles are the major problem of skin during aging. As
age advances skin becomes thinner and dryer leading to wrinkles but rate of
wrinkling also depends upon diet, nutrition, improper skin care, stress,
environmental factors like pollution and exposure to sun. [1] Among lifestyle,
smoking is the major contributor of wrinkling. [1]
Heart Problems
Heart related problems are associated with depression, high blood pressure and
hardening of vessels. [1]
Methods to Reversing Aging
Consequences of aging can be decreased by following healthy life style like
regular exercise, healthy food, no smoking, less amount of saturated fats in
meals. [1]
Exercise especially swimming enhances cardiovascular health and osteoporosis
(weakening of bones) because it enhances supply of oxygen towards tissues of the
body. [1]
Among useful food supplements Vitamin D and calcium supplementation enhances
bone density hence decreases the risk of bone and joint problems. [1] Calcium
also lowers cholesterol level and is beneficial in reducing hardening of vessels
that may leads to heart problems. [1] Vitamin B12 affects beneficially on nerves
and supports memory. [1]
For wrinkles and other age related skin problems, many people are using
different natural herbs and food supplements like kelp which supplies minerals
to maintain good skin tone. [1] Vitamin E is another nutritional supplement that
works against free radical damage. [1]Vitamin C, if uses topically also enhances
skin tone by promoting collagen production of skin, [2] it also limit
harmful effects of environmental pollution. Vitamin C is also effective to
promote alertness and reduction of fatigue during aging. [2] Aloe Vera has
healing and moisturizing effect on skin. Vitamin C also protects against
abnormal blood clotting and shows its beneficial effects in reducing the risk of
cataract (a very common eye related problem in aged group). [1]
Garlic is a very common herb which can be found easily. [1] It also shows its
beneficial effects during aging process by avoiding clot formation inside blood
vessels and it also shows its favorable effects in lowering high blood pressure
and other heart related problems. [1]
