Goldenseal is a small herbaceous perennial with a thick yellow root and an erect stem. It grows to a height of one foot. The plant is a native of Canada and the eastern United States. The chief States producing it being Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, New York. In Canada it mainly grows in the Province of Ontario.
